June 22, 2024 Heath tabbed as new USM Huskies head coach Scott Heath has been named the 10th head coach in the 71-year history of the storied University of Southern Maine Huskies program. A native of Westbrook, Maine and a former All-Conference player for the University of Maine, Heath replaces Hall of Fame coach Ed Flaherty who retired after 39 seasons in Gorham.
April 14, 2024 Salve Regina sweeps on Sunday, ECSU extends win streak Salve Regina took two games from Babson, 7-3 and 8-5, and they earn a key NEWMAC series win. Nearby Eastern Connecticut State saw their division leading win steak stop at 20 games as they lost game two today to Southern Maine.
April 12, 2024 Flaherty to retire at the conclusion of 2024 season After nearly four decades of dedicated service to University of Southern Maine student-athletes as the Huskies' baseball coach, Ed Flaherty, is retiring from coaching at the end of the 2024 season.
March 16, 2024 Chapman, ECSU, Rowan wins over past champions In the final of a three game set between previous World Series champions, Chapman (2003, 19) salvaged one win of the series with a 10-3 victory over Cortland (2015). Rowan (1978, 79) also won a clash of past champions with Southern Maine (1991, 97). ECSU (1982, 90, 98, 2002, 22) was a 2-1 winner over Marietta (1981, 83, 86,2006, 11, 12)
February 13, 2024 Region 2 Preview: New England II Good news for Eastern Connecticut State comes this year. They have a Championship in each city that has hosted and this year the East Lake era begins. The usual suspects lurk in Southern Maine and UMass-Boston and a Johnny-come-lately in Rhode Island. Last year Endicott made the final eight and have a team that is able and ready to repeat.
